Shojin ryori is the Japanese term for buddhist vegetarian cooking and is one of the daily activities for some practicing Buddhist monks in Japan.

Traditional home cooking usually prepared
with vegetables and seafood that have been
produced in Kyoto.

The menu consists of miso soup,
rice, side dishes and pickles.
INGREDIENT

We use Japanese rice, miso, shiitake mushrooms,
goma, kelp, soybeans, vegetables,
Kyoto wildflowers, and sometimes fish.

IKUMI HANETA
Hosting a cooking class.
Traveling chef & Dietician.
Born and raised in Tokyo.
Lived on the southern island 'Yakushima' for ten years from 2009 to 2018. After working and studying in the kitchen of an auberge, Ikumi ran a small restaurant in Yakushima that served course meals that required reservations. At the restaurant 'La table', Ikumi cooked everyday with hope that the guests' time together would be happy and special. Ikumi was in charge of cooking in
collaboration with people from various fields.
Now Living in Kyoto since 2018.
